Closing Event and Artist Talk for the Exhibition »Interbeing«
To conclude our exhibition "Interbeing," artists Verena Freyschmidt, Maike Häusling, and Sarah Schoderer will engage in a discussion with Yeoh Lian Heng, activist and director of Lostgens' Contemporary Art Space in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on the topic »Interbeing – New Forms of Collaboration. Perspectives on Artistic Practice Using the Example of Lostgens' from Malaysia« (Live Broadcast)

The event will be moderated by Andreas Schmid, artist, curator, and co-founder of the Pacific working Group in the Association of German Artists (Deutscher Künstlerbund)

The discussion will be held in English.

During their three-month residencies in Kuala Lumpur as part of the Goethe-Institut Malaysia's residency program, the local association Lostgens' Contemporary Art Space provided the three artists with a domicile, workspace, exhibition venue, and most importantly, a place for diverse encounters.

In the discussion, Verena Freyschmidt, Maike Häusling, and Sarah Schoderer will share their different experiences and profound impressions gathered in Southeast Asia. They were particularly impressed by the forms of artistic collaboration observed and experienced at the artists' collective Lostgens', founded in 2004 as a public platform for artistic and cultural dialogue with a strong political and social-critical approach. Co-founder and director Yeoh Lian Heng will join the discussion via live stream, presenting his perspective as an artist and activist, along with showcasing two exemplary projects by Lostgens'.

Inspired by Lostgens', artists Verena Freyschmidt, Maike Häusling, and Sarah Schoderer explore what forms of collaboration they seek and the challenges and opportunities that arise from them.

The discussion will be moderated by artist and curator Andreas Schmid, who has decades of experience in cultural exchange with Asia, particularly the People's Republic of China.
